  17. If you had another modem before the 28.8, you may have noticed that v.34
  18. and v.FC connections take MUCH longer to negotiate than slower modems,
  19. because of all the line testing and stuff they have to do.  If you turn
  20. off v.34, you'll connect v.32bis to the Multitechs at 14.4K, and the
  21. connection will be established a lot quicker, but the disadvantage of
  22. slower transfers is quite obvious.
